Tue 2 PM
Portraits with Gboat
Sit for a portrait with Gboat. Sitting still is harder than it sounds by day three, and the likeness is not up for negotiation.
Tuesday evening we are out: Playa Jazz at the Oasis, 8 PM, and there is a poster.
Letting the dust settle
Daytime is for learning, listening, and a cold drink in the shade. Nights are for the jam.
Here is the full week. The home page only ever shows tonight.
Daytime · 2 PM · educational, and frequently boozy

Wed 2 PM
We put on Pat Metheny and we listen. That is the entire format. Opinions are welcome between tracks. Talking over the record is not.
Thu 2 PM
A hundred years of jazz in about an hour, which means we skip things. Come and argue about what we skipped. Somebody always does.
Fri 2 PM
How a jazz musician actually thinks. No prior theory required, and nobody is going to ask you to sight read anything.
Sat 2 PM
A camp favorite. The wild, beautiful chaos of Charles Mingus, served with something cold and bubbly. The Mingus is not optional. The mimosa is.
Nightly · Monday to Saturday · 10 PM to 2 AM, playa time
10 PM
The night opens with world class players and a structured set. 10 PM sharp, which out here means 10 PM sharp enough.
Midnight
The open jam. Bring your horn. Bring your mug. Bring your cat calls. Sit at the keys, take a solo, or just pull up a chair and let it happen at you. Two in the morning is a target, not a rule.
Sunday · nothing
Sunday
No workshops, no jam, no anything. We are building the club, or taking it down, or asleep under a shade structure. If you want to help with either end of that, there are bottomless mimosas involved in exactly one direction.
You don’t need to sign up. Just get your ass into the tent, bring your horn, and call a tune.
Set times are approximate. Loudly, proudly approximate. Complain about it.
